Dear Guru

Aunt Netty is so glad you asked. But first things first. Let's make a distinction between designing a web page and creating a web page. Creating a web page can be done with Netscape Gold Editor, Frontpage, or any of literally dozens of software products. (As a Word guru, you're probably going to want to just wait until you get Word 97, which allows you to Save As HTML !)

Designing a web page, on the other hand, is by far the more challenging task. Luckily, the best thing about the web is that there's so much information out there. So Aunt Netty is going to ask you to go out to the web and teach yourself. Start at Web Page Design for Designers, an absolutely fabulous site, which contains plenty of links to other resources. (If you like this site as much as Aunt Netty did, you can even download the whole site in one zip file for offline browsing!) Then check out some of Aunt Netty's favourite Design and HTML links.

 Yours truly

Aunt Netty
